Odaka started a long time ago, as a thought, a distant idea, but only in the past few years, it became clear. I have always had a fondness for craft, and I have always cherished every opportunity to create something with my own hands. The prospect of having complete control over my work and learning all aspects of the technical process have naturally led me to form my own studio, Studio Odaka. I am mainly influenced by ceramics from the Far East, and focus on simplicity and elegance guided by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi. My ambition is to bring together the grace and charm of the east with modern concepts and techniques. My ceramics are all handmade and the complete process of creating the molds, casting the clay slip, and mixing up my self-made glazes is done in the studio in my unique manner of doing things so that each piece of work becomes an item of its own, one of a kind.
I believe that to achieve a good product, you need to love, laugh and dream, but also to work hard, be fair, and most important, to care.
